Sunjin environment Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Gang-woo), a company specializing in recovering and treating waste refrigerants (recycling and disposal), started its operation to expand its waste refrigerant treatment and recovery business nationwide.

Sunjin environment Co., Ltd. recently announced that it has signed a business agreement with Eco Meister Co., Ltd., a KOSDAQ-listed company, to strengthen its nationwide business power, including the Seoul metropolitan area, where recovered waste refrigerants are concentrated.

This business agreement focuses on reducing climate change substances by complying with the △ Waste Refrigerant Management Act △ highlighting the importance of waste refrigerant recovery and recycling △ expanding waste refrigerant recovery △ establishing a mutual cooperation system.

Sunjin Environment Co., Ltd., which expanded and invested in large-scale facilities with the latest technologies earlier this year, is planning to build a second plant in the Seoul metropolitan area to overcome regional limitations in Busan, where the factory is located.

Sunjin environment Co., Ltd. is first evaluated as a win-win business agreement as it is maximizing sales power by utilizing Ecomeister's infrastructure in the metropolitan area, while conducting a two-step cooperation (share investment) with Ecomeister as the next step.

Sunjin environment Co., Ltd. has the largest and latest facilities in Korea that can exclusively refine various types of refrigerants currently in circulation by applying the latest technology based on long-term state-run research ("NON-CO2 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Project") and experience in commercialization.

Lee Gang-woo, CEO of Sunjin Environment Co., Ltd., said, "As waste refrigerant management (recovery and treatment) and submission of refrigerant management records are legally mandatory, the refrigerant recovery rate is expected to rise less than 5%, which will lead to rapid business growth."

CEO Lee emphasized, "Based on the mutual cooperation and field experience of the two companies, we actively proposed insufficient revision of the law and agreed to contribute greatly to the public interest of rapidly changing global warming and climate change prevention by expanding the waste refrigerant recovery rate."

Ecomaister is an environmental business that recycles slag, a waste from the steelmaking process, and a special machinery business that manufactures railway inspection facilities, and this agreement is expected to serve as an opportunity for Ecomaister to enter the waste refrigerant business in the Seoul metropolitan area.

Refrigerants, commonly called Freon gas, are the main culprit of ozone layer destruction and climate change, and the Air Environment Conservation Act defines refrigerants as climate and ecosystem change substances, especially requiring refrigerant management records, but only a small percentage of them are recovered and recycled in Korea.

The official said, "Environmental issues are emerging worldwide, and the market for recovering, recycling, or disposing of refrigerants will grow rapidly in Korea, with refrigerant management standards in place. Only three companies can recover, refine, recycle, or incinerate their own technology."
