Sunjin environment Co., Ltd., a company specializing in recycling and processing waste refrigerants, completed Korea's first waste refrigerant recovery, purification, and thermal treatment one-stop treatment plant in Saenggok, Gangseo-gu, Busan in 2017, contributing to the reduction of global warming materials.

In preparation for the revision of the Air Environment Conservation Act, which took effect on November 29, we completed the development of waste refrigerant treatment technology five years ago, an official at Sunjin environment Co., Ltd said. The official name for which the new technology has been certified is 'waste refrigerant decomposition technology using air circulation injection for combustion'.

Sunjin environment Co., Ltd. has developed and completed a factory that can recycle or thermally destroy refrigerated refrigeration facilities for industrial and business, waste cars, and waste refrigerants generated during waste home appliances in a single process.

Waste refrigerant decomposition technology is a technology that stably destroys refrigerants that cannot be recycled due to technical or economic problems after removing impurities contained in waste refrigerants in consideration of resource circulation.

It is evaluated as a combustion technology dedicated to a waste refrigerant capable of reducing energy use required to decompose a thermally stable waste refrigerant in breaking down a waste refrigerant including a halogen element at a high temperature.

The core technology is to cool the combustion chamber with combustion air instead of refractory construction and to improve energy efficiency by using air preheated during the cooling process of the combustion chamber as a waste refrigerant oxidant.

When combustion air is supplied to a flow path formed between the inner wall and the outer wall of the combustor, it is preheated by about 200°C or more while cooling the inner wall of the combustion chamber. The preheated air discharged into the combustion chamber rotates along the inner wall of the combustor and then joins the flame formed in the center of the combustion chamber to be used as an oxidant for combustion.

The lower part of the combustion chamber cools the combustion chamber using liquid waste refrigerant vaporization heat, and supplies the vaporized waste refrigerant into the combustion chamber for destruction treatment. At high temperatures above 1,000℃, the thermally stable decomposition rate of waste refrigerants was 99.99% or higher by mixing waste refrigerants, auxiliary fuels, and oxidants by Turbulence and securing sufficient residence time.

In particular, when cooling the combustion air using vaporized heat of the waste refrigerant and supplying it as an oxidizing agent, the temperature of the outer wall of the combustor is operated below the legal standard of 120℃.

Until the completion of the waste refrigerant decomposition technology, most of the waste refrigerant management system was leaked and neglected, said an official at Sunjin environment Co., Ltd. adding, "It is in the spotlight as a technology that can contribute to the government's implementation of the Paris Climate Change Agreement."

Plant export plan.

Sunjin environment Co., Ltd. reduced 630,000 CO톤 tons of greenhouse gas this year by participating in the production and sale of 200kg of waste refrigerants per hour and thermal destruction treatment of 50kg of waste refrigerants per hour. In particular, it plans to conduct carbon resource technology exports and plant projects through entry into overseas markets based on domestic commercialization results from 2019, and will actively participate in domestic and foreign technology exhibitions and export consultations.
